Our goal is to create a beautiful, comfortable and love filled home with as little money as possible. I know that most of us are on a budget so this is our way to save a little and enjoy a lot! I love the idea of repurposing everything (much to my husband's frustration) and getting creative in the process. I am constantly testing my husbands awesome handyman/carpentry skills and he likes challenging my sense of design and decoration.
Let me give you a little more background on our home. Our home was built in 1979. We have lived here for 3 years and we have had our share of struggles. I was not a fan of moving into an older home but we have almost an acre in the "down town" of our small, small town so it was a nice move from the traditional subdivision of tract homes. It is 100% brick but an awful orange/light tan color. We have a single car garage (that does not hold a car), a 2 car built-in carport and a covered patio. The home is roughly 1400 square feet containing 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms and 2 living areas. Here is a picture of the exterior:
Please pardon the snow and snow people! This was one year that we had more snow than I've ever seen in Texas!
We have already made a few changes to the kitchen, the nursery and the master bedroom. I will highlight these as we go along. All three rooms will be getting new changes in the future. My house will always be changing, I'm afraid. I did make a short lived promise to Jay when we moved into this home - I vowed to not paint a single room for 5 years! I don't know what I was thinking!! Everything was going well until my daughter decided to join us and we had that paint the nursery. There was no chance that I was going to bring home a new baby girl to a room that was sunshine yellow and refried bean brown! Once I broke the vow of no painting, the gloves came off and the drop cloths went down!
I hope that everyone enjoys what we have to share. We are not professionals, we will probably get it wrong more times than we get it right - but we will have fun and everything will be a lesson learned and a product of love. Throughout the whole process, our motto will be to never take for granted life's little rewards!
Thanks for stopping by!
